You Should Try Out Bud & Marilyn’s in Philadelphia for Brunch!

By Alexis Sanchez on March 4, 2020

So, I recently had a national conference in Baltimore for graduate school and I was able to stop by Philadelphia for a bit (gotta love cheaper flight options!). I love trying new restaurants, especially brunch places, and Bud & Marilyn’s popped up with 4.6 out of 5 stars with a menu that could accommodate many, so I knew I had to go. So, here’s my review and why you should try out Bud & Marilyn’s in Philadelphia for brunch!

1. It’s all about the atmosphere

Right when you walk in, there’s a nice rustic, industrial feel. Even though the place was packed with people, it still felt nice and comfortable. The lighting was warm and calming. Everyone that worked there was polite and used gender-neutral terms for everyone (which I always feel the need to praise). They have a large wrap-around bar with pictures surrounding it that made you feel like you were in another place. Even though I was only supposed to be there for a couple hours, my group and I couldn’t help staying there longer and just taking the place in.

2. So many options

There were so many food options that even as a vegetarian I had a tough time picking just one food item on the menu. I ended up trying their Shakshuka, which is a Mediterranean dish of eggs poached in a sauce full of spices, feta, and greens. The best part was the hash browns that came with them because they were huge and had mozzarella cheese in them. The best surprise bite of food I’ve ever had. Best of all, their prices are affordable and will not break the bank.

3. The food and drinks are amazing

Just looking around me everybody’s food came out piping hot and looking delicious. The crowd favorites were definitely their Marilyn’s Fried Chicken Bucket and their Grapefruit Mimosa. When they say bucket, they mean an actual full bucket of a ½ chicken and fries! They gave customers a special house-made hot sauce that was full of flavor and was not left spared by any table. Their Grapefruit Mimosas were flying out of the bar and there was at least one at each table, but most tables had more. They shone in the restaurant with a dark pink hue that invited all to get their own.

Ultimately, you’ll leave the place thinking you never want to leave! Check out Bud & Marilyn’s food and drink menus here for brunch and check to see if the next time you are in Philadelphia if you can stop by (or spend a whole day!). I definitely recommend if you come here that you should make a reservation!
